Description
Abstract
a adolescentes peruanos.
Attitudes towards violence are a predictor of violent behavior in the school context. The Questionnaire of Attitudes towards Violence (CAHV) is one of the most widely used assessment instruments in this context. The main objective of the present study was to validate the scores of the questionnaire (CAHV) in a sample of Peruvian adolescents. The sample consisted of 643 elementary school students from Metropolitan Lima, Peru (M = 12,8; SD = 1,32, range 11-16, 54,9% male) obtained by non-probabilistic sampling. The internal and factorial structure was analyzed, as well as the invariance according to sex. Finally, a unidimensional model was obtained for each of the 4 scales, with 5 items each. Adequate fit indices and adequate internal consistency values were obtained (α = ,748-,782). The results obtained indicate that the CAHV is a useful, reliable, and valid instrument, with adequate psychometric properties to assess attitudes towards violence in Peruvian adolescents in school.
