Abstract
Introducción: El presente artículo analiza las prácticas artísticas contextuales, cuyo componente central consiste en preparar, servir y compartir la comida, buscando discernir las funciones del alimento en este tipo de intervenciones. Metodología: Para ello, usando el método de análisis semántico de las publicaciones críticas y académicas, presentamos una selección que refleja la evolución de esta tendencia en el arte y ejemplifica sus principales caminos de desarrollo. Resultados: Las primeras tentativas de ligar la vida y el arte a través de la comida, como los restaurantes de artistas, abrieron camino para incorporar el alimento en la producción creativa tanto en calidad de material, como de elemento relacional. Discusión: Observamos que la comida puede desempeñar tres principales papeles dentro de las iniciativas artísticas contextuales: servir de nexo para unir a las personas involucradas, plantear una reflexión acerca de los significados vinculados a esta acción universal o presentarse como un catalizador del cambio en el tejido social, en la percepción del espacio urbano compartido u otros ámbitos seleccionados como objetivo. Conclusiones: La interpretación de estas funcionalidades en cada proyecto influye en la relación que se establece entre sus participantes, el alimento y el lugar de la acción. ---------------
Introduction: This article analyses contextual artistic practices, whose central component consists of preparing, serving and sharing food; seeking to discern the functions of food in this type of intervention. Methodology: To this end, using the method of semantic analysis of critical and academic publications, we present a selection that reflects the evolution of this trend in art and exemplifies its main paths of development. Results: The first attempts to link life and art through food, such as artist restaurants, paved the way for incorporating food into creative production both as a material and as a relational element. Discussion: We observe that food can play three main roles within contextual art initiatives: serving as a link to unite the people involved, raising a reflection on the meanings linked to this universal action or presenting itself as a catalyst for change in the social fabric, in the perception of shared urban space or other areas selected as a target. Conclusions: The interpretation of these functionalities in each project influences the relationship established between its participants, the food and the place of action.
