Abstract
Aunar ecocrítica e historicidad supone tener en cuenta tanto la relación de explotación de la naturaleza por parte de la humanidad como la explotación social en la que se basa la subsistencia de dicha humanidad. En concreto, la segunda determina, a nivel ideológico, las nociones que configuran la práctica del discurso en general, y el literario en particular.
De ahí que digamos que las nociones de naturaleza, individuo,
sociedad y, por tanto, la noción misma de literatura,
son, efectivamente, y como ha demostrado Juan Carlos Rodríguez,
radicalmente históricas. Proponemos, pues, una (re)
lectura de los clásicos desde esta doble conciencia histórica
y ecológica.
To combine ecocriticism and historicity means to take into account both humankind’s exploitative relationship with nature and the kind of social exploitation upon which humankind’s livelihood is based. Specifically, the latter determines, at an ideological level, the notions that shape discourse in general, and literature in particular. Therefore, we claim that concepts such as ‘nature’, ‘individual’, ‘society’ and the concept of ‘literature’ itself are indeed radically historical, as noted by Juan Carlos Rodríguez. Our suggestion is that this dual awareness is needed in order to (re)read the classics.
