This article provides the analysis of a book that has been little addres- sed by critics: L'Enfer de Dante (1991) by French poet of Jewish origin Edmond Jabes (1912-1991). On one hand, we intend to track some echoes of Dante's Inferno through Jabes' text, highlighting its presence in a particularly innovative place for the intertext: the number of pages, an element of the book as an object. On the other hand, taking as a starting point the analysis of the incipit, we pose specularity as a main figure of construction of the text, then moving the inquiry into Jabes' vision of Hell as a closed place of suffering, individualized in Auschwitz.

"Le meneur de louves": reescritura de "Histoire Ecclesiastique des Francs"

Rachilde, a prolific French author writing during the last decades of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century, published Le Meneur de louves in 1905. Although it was considered a historical novel by critics, its plot is a reworking of books nine to twenty of Volume 2 of the French translation (Histoire ecclesiastique des Francs) of the Historia Francorum by Gregory of Tours. Reworking of earlier texts is a technique frequently used by Rachilde, and in this novel this technique is very evident as a result of the constant presence of the hypotext in the hypertext. Rachilde is also regarded as a Decadent writer, and despite preserving some of the features of the source text, she adapts the plot by incorporating characteristics of the Decadence movement of the late 19th century.

Quete et Enjeux de l'Eden dans la poésie de Saint-John Perse

In the poetry of Saint-John Perse, the man is in the center of the concerns of the poet. The Eden translates the place of delights that underlies the human exis- tence by the infinite enjoyment which bases it. Any life cannot understand only by its conquest translating, from the fact, from the imperceptible and insatiable desire of the being. The problem which arouses this quest of such a place is also, at the poet, that of the poetic writing connected to the bright structure of the universe, stemming from the bioluminescence and taken on an aura multicolored and wonderful colors; it could so offer the enjoyment of an existence which insures the sea as microcosm of the Eden, such are the real stakes in the notion in its poetic functioning. The objective of the work is to show that by launching in the conquest of such a space of plenitude, Perse embodies the symbolism of the light and is established as the wise man. This edenic world appears as an universe which, leads to the essential truth, illuminates things.

Thérés et Isabelle, l'écriture du défi

Originally, Therese et Isabelle has not been designed by Violette Leduc indepen- dently. The text was the first part of an autobiographical novel, Ravages, who was published by Gallimard in 1954. However the episode "Therese and Isabelle" does not appear in the novel, the editor will cut into a hundred-fifty pages, considered at the time as unprintable as too bold, at least from the pen of a woman. We will have to wait until the year 2000 that was finally published the full version of Therese and Isabelle. How Leduc it deals with sexuality and female desire by combining a precise description of gestures and feelings, metaphors and highly poetic images defy taboos of the time. Throughout our study, we will have the opportunity to discover a particular poetic; Leduc says the desire, the pleasure in a pure state, without resorting to preconceived images of women and draw a new picture of the woman.

La influencia de las novelas de Girolamo Parabosco (pasando por Sansovino) en la literatura española del Siglo de Oro

In this paper I aim to demonstrate that the influence of Girolamo Parabosco's novels (c. 1524-1557) on the Spanish literature of the Golden Age must have been considerable, despite the absence of a Spanish translation of his Diporti, its meagre presence in contemporary inventories and bookstores and the lack of allu- sions to his novels by Spanish writers. The main reason is the inclusion of almost all Parabosco's novels in the Cento novelle scelte compiled by Francesco Sansovino, an anthology that was widely read, cited and imitated in the Golden Age. As I will attempt to prove, Lope de Vega (Los muertos vivos), Castillo Solorzano (Jornadas alegres and Los alivios de Casandra) and Lugo y Davila (Teatro popular) must have read Parabosco's novels -which they did not hesitate to imitate- in Sansovino's anthology.

De la esclava a la mujer antillana contemporánea: crónica literaria de una maternidad traumática

The aim of this study is to analyse the most relevant specific traits of motherhood in francophone Antilles, through the study of the evoked vision of certain female writers. The characters of their narrative allow us to verify the intimate rela- tionship that is established between the particular conception of motherhood and the slavery past in its less known dimension. Resistance, infanticide, solitude, abandonment and broken family ties, are some of the aspects related to the subject of motherhood and the search for identity that emerge from the analysed works of fiction. Indeed, the mentioned aspects of the family structure, the position of women in relation to motherhood and the inherent complexities to the Antilles' society, to its past and its evolution, become a major source of female inspiration and differentiation.

Lo que el uso de las construcciones "con o sin mí" y"con o sin ti" nos muestra sobre la estructura de la lengua

This paper centers around the disjunctive constructions con o sin mi and con o sin ti as alternatives to conmigo o sin mi and contigo o sin ti in Spanish, for the im- plications of their use for the subject of the compatibility between the preposition con and the personal pronouns mi and ti and, on a more general level, of the language value of these pronouns. Attention is drawn to the confirmation of a non-negligible number of cases of the former constructions, which may be considered "uncanonical", due to the fact that, in them, con and the pronoun contract the same syntagmatic relation as in the now disused and frowned-upon constructions con mi and con ti. The apparent pa- radox is explained in terms of the Coserian distinction between system and norm, thus serving as an example to clarify the meaning and relevance of said distinction. Finally, the paper closes with some reflections on the way languages are historically constituted.

Des origines de l'écriture chez Mohammed Dib

The work of Mohammed Dib is an attempt to dive literature into the real and into reality; the real as a deescrtion of what is lived and the reality to the extent where fiction is only an excuse to express an existential contents than the Algerian in particular, and Man in general knows. In this entity, the quest for a certain identity and a certain past becomes significant for understanding the roundabouts of a present that is in tune with what the Algerian lived. Tlemcen, or the Writing Places, with other than the purely literary scope it offers to the reader, is a work of quest. It implicitly suggests the content of a certain Algeria that the author-photographer highlights to enable the reader- viewer to know a past that, normally, would never have given birth to the present situation of Algeria. It is an investigation into the foundations of the historical changes which are transforming the living of a city and, by extension, of a nation. In our article, we will see how self-quest is a quest for the original tortured place. We will also discuss the primordial role of photography in the story as evidence on a certain temporal and spatial entity, and we will question, in a third point, the added value of the contribution of the photographer Philippe Bordas in the edition of this book.

Proverbes et modernité, deux réalités irréconciliables?

This article examines the relationship between proverbs and modernity. Part of the traditional world, proverbs are opposed, apparently, to modernity characterized by what is current. But, in spite of this opposition, there is evidence that these two realities have a link that is at a social level and aesthetic level. Socially, the proverb may be perceived as a powerful educational tool, teaching and cognitive. Aesthetically, its impact comes from its images, its rhythm, truth general or universal it carries and its formulism. Through this link, they appear as two realities that can reconcile.

Salir de la infancia, salir de la ciudad: variaciones en torno a la dinámica adentro/afuera en "Boeve" de Haumtone y Horn

Horn by Thomas and Boeve de Haumtone, two Anglo-Norman epic poems composed in England during the last quarter of the twelfth century, show a similar plot structure: both works tell the hero's full life, from childhood to death. However, in the epi- sode narrating the children's chivalric initiation -which in both cases entails coming out of the city, thus, activating the inside/outside dynamics- the narrative patterns of these poems take opposite directions. Boeve's poet, on the one hand, multiplies the conflicts motivating the hero to leave the city's ease behind, and prove his military value. Thomas, on the other hand, delays the child's initiation with a prolific description of a joyful and festive city, inhabited by maidens willing to enclose the hero within the urban walls. The aim of this article is to analyze those differences apparent in the inside/outside dynamics, since they provide a clear hint of the particular relationship established by the authors of each work with the genre within which they inscribe their works, the chanson de geste.

Recreaciones de Barba Azul en lengua francesa

The French versions of the story of the evil Bluebeard and his curious wife are striking in their artistic value and diversity. This paper focuses on six recreations we have decided to highlight for their notable literary merit; these include three opera libretti (Raoul Barbe-Bleue by Michel-Jean Sedaine, Barbe-bleue by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halevy, Ariane et Barbe-bleue by Maurice Maeterlinck), a tale (Les Sept Femmes de la Barbe-bleue by Anatole France) and two recently published novels (Barbe bleue by Amelie Nothomb and Les Sangs by Audree Wilhelmy). Both the variety of the topics and the multiple portraits of the main character emphasise the talent of the writers in question, as well as the possibilities offered by recreation.

Un derivado del latín "Straemen" en aragonés

It is a question of setting up the etymology of the Aragonese word estrabilla 'stable, stall" which survives in the Echo valley (western Aragonese). We come to the con- clusion that it springs from the STRAMINEA Latin, derived from STRAMEN "straw bedding", etymon that has left descendants in several Romance languages and in Basque.
