Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Vieira, María J.; Vidal, JavierInstitutional evaluation procedures in Spanish higher education are characterised by insufficient criteria for the assessment of student affairs contained in the assessment guidelines in comparison with other subjects, mainly, from an institutional point of view. In this study, an in-depth analysis of the institutional evaluation procedures in the University of Leon was carried out to examine to what extent student affairs programs and services have been assessed within the institutional context.The methodology consisted of content analysis of the assessment reports and quantitative descriptive and factorial analysis methodology for the students surveys carried out within the evaluation processes.The main conclusions refer to the need of considering affairs programs and services within an institutional plan at higher education institutions, which should be adapted to the needs and requirements of each faculty or college, and also to the need of highlighting the institutional dimension in institutional evaluation procedures

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Muñoz, Esther; Gómez, JuanIn this paper, we analyze, by means of applying multivariate techniques on a sample of students from the Catholic University of Murcia, the effect that some learning variables of university students have on their academic achievement. In addition to other academic or socioeconomic features, we consider especially the students learning strategies, using for that purpose the Student Process Questionnaire (SPQ-2F) by J, Biggs. The weight of every factor, as determinant of the academic achievement, is poundered.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Sabirón Sierra, Fernando; Arraiz Pérez, AnaThe study shows two main components of ethnographic style research: on the one hand, there is the presentation of the results, and on the other hand there are the methodological doubts of the process, the subject of study -the adolescent- reidentifies his own existence. The invention of the research is to give details about the hypothesis of research, dealing with symbolic violence, the normalization and the psychopedagogic intervention. The questionnaire PASa, matrix of survey investigation, is the tool utilised. The analysis of the results describes features seen in the model adolescent's action -thinking. The article concludes with an interpretative account, which proves as conclusive as it is provisional.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) de la Orden, Arturo; González, CoralAfter reviewing the research literature related to low academic performance, specially in the spanish school system, the empirical study presented here tries to provide some evidence about factors associated to low academic performance in compulsory secundary education.The main purpose of the study is to identify a linear equation to predic which group (low performance group or medium-high performance group) would belong to any subject with similar characteristics to our sample subjects. A seven step protocol is followed to reach the equation.The statistical analysis was mainly carried out by discriminant analysis but in some concrete steps regression analysis was also done.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Sánchez López, María Cristina; Parra Martínez, Joaquín; Prieto Sánchez, María DoloresThe objective of the work is to analyze how the Affective Dimension of the family context it allows to advance the Psychological Well-being in adolescents of a school of the Region of Murcia. The participants are adolescent between 12 and 20 years. The Psychological Well-being was evaluated with the Inventory of adapted Psychological Well-being and proposed by Alsinet, Houses and Rosich (2000) and the affective dimension of the family context with (Inventory Quality Relationships, QRI) of Sarason (1999) and Social The Climate Scales: Family (FES) of Moos, Moos and Trickett (1984, 1995, 2000). The results show us that through the perception that they have of the level of cohesion and family conflict we can predict their Psychological Well-being.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Rodríguez Santero, Javier; Álvarez Rojo, VíctorUniversity students’ career guidance is all over accepted as one of the more important students’ academic needs. This paper deals with an evaluation research on an academic guidance program: Magallanes-Atando Cabos; the program has been designed to meet the freshmen academic needs in university settings. First we present the research process followed to determine program design quality, or its fitness to quality standards defined by scientific literature for programs in this particular guidance field. Rationale, research design, data collected, outcomes and implications for the intended quality program design are the several contributions we display in the present work.
- PublicationOpen AccessCreencias y conocimiento de los profesores acerca de la conducta autodeterminada en personas con discapacidad cognitiva(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) González Torres, Mª Carmen; Sobrino, AngelTeacher training is of utmost importance to insure that the development of self-determination be a reality in the educational services related to Special Education. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the beliefs and knowledge of teachers (N=72) about self-determinated behaviour in disabled children, through applying a questionnaire developed by the authors of this article. Of the results obtained, major findings relate to the fact that 94% considered selfdetermination to be an important educational goal for all children, including those that present some serious disability (80%). In the same way, 97% considered further social insertion and a better quality of life as benefits for the children. Even so, they expressed serious difficulties for applying instructive processes and strategies which produce further self-determination. The results are compared to those obtained in two other studies carried out in an Anglo-Saxon setting.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Pérez García, María PurificaciónThis research studys if supervisors encourage the reflection of students of Primary Teacher. The sample was compoused for students of Practicum, university supervisor teachers and tutors (school teachers). A questionary about reflexive actions was administred. The questionary asks to supervisor if he had encouraged such actions, to student if he had been encouraged in this actions and tutor if he had seen this encouragements and if it is some relation with the speciality and the experience. The results shown important differences about reflective actions between supervisors and students of Practicum. The supervisors didn´t encourage some reflective actions, although they thinks the opposite and the student admited not to have been encouraged. There were influence of the experience but no of the speciality on the relation of the supervisor,tutor and reflexive actions.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Pallisera, María; Fullana, Judit; Vila, MontserrratThis article presents the process followed and the results of three pieces of research centred on the work integration of people with disabilities in regular environments through employment with support. The aim of the three pieces of research is to get to know the burden that the various elements (family, training, labour environment, personal resources, etc) place on the integration process. In this way, guidance aimed al improving the development of these processes could be proposed.First, the three pieces of research are presented (methodology and result), which stress the argument for elements of continuity that justify their proposal and sequential desing. The first part concludes with the presentation of the main factors that, based on the studies carried out, have a bearing on the improvement of the processes of labour integration for people with disabilities. Finally, the conclusions look at future lines of research that emerge from the studies carried out.

J.; Viladot, G.This article shows the results of a descriptive study about the changes appearing in the present approach al the Organizations Training. The analysis of national and foreign significative studies in the field allowed identifing the interesting areas focused on our study. The strategy of data collection has been the interview to key informants. For that we selected a representative sample of companies in Catalonia experienced in the training in the area of Human Resources policies. For the sample were considered the size of the company and the productive sector.The results of this research had shown the current situation and the changes that seem to appear in the dimensions tha have been considered important for the analysis. We mark these changes in the immediate future in training planification, its objectives, forms, resources, evaluation and, as result of that, the desirable competences and professional profile, linked to the functions and responsabilities of the training director or manager at the organizations.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Cortés Pascual, Pilar Alejandra; Medrano Samaniego, ConcepciónIn this work star from the understanding of the main scheme of an educational research work in order to deal with the specific methodology of life stories, following three parts: situation/problem; methodology and globalisation. In this study, we underline the relevant problems and proposals for narrative. In the same way, and although the life stories, because of their specific subject matter, are understood from a qualitative paradigm, the quantitative subject matter is also taken into account. Therefore, we have opted for an integrating approach of both approaches. Finally, some limitations shown by the narrative method are presented, although we insist on its relevance as a method and a tool for education, and the construction of educational knowledge.

It analyses the intellectual characteristics, as well as the personality and contextual variables that seem to be associated to the high achievement; through the follow up of the same sample in two different moments: the year 2000 and the 2003, respectively. The starting hypothesis states that the curricular and capacity differences, traditionally associated to gender, disappear or become reconstructed.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2005-07-01) Rodríguez Hernández, Juan A.; Feliciano García, LuisIn this article we analize teacher's tasks and decisions in order to make an empirical clarification of their work. What we want to know is who makes decisions about the points which are discused and who makes decisions in the context of collegiate governing units. The results show that teachers make decisions adopting a participative strategy. Decisions concerning the educational center and the classroom are maked in a collegiate way; nevertheless, decisions concerning teaching methods are maked mostly at the individual level.
