- PublicationOpen AccessAnálisis bibliométrico de la Revista de Investigación Educativa (2000-2012)(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Ariza, Tania; Quevedo-Blasco, RaúlA bibliometric analysis of the Revista de Investigación Educativa was performed in order to analyse the evolution and characteristics of its scientific production. Analysis of 366 published papers between 2000 and 2012 was conducted based on indicators such as year of publication, language, methodology, sample type, research context, topic, authorship index, institutional affiliation, and productivity by country. The information was obtained from the electronic version of the journal. We used the IN-RECS and JCR database in order to get other bibliometric indicators such as citations, most cited authors, impact index, and specialities or journals of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) in which authors quote most. Results show specific information about scientific production, as well as strengths and weaknesses. We discuss those aspects that should be promoted and others which may need improvement, so that the journal may be more widely spread.
- PublicationOpen AccessSchool Leadership in a Contradictory World(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Moos, LejfThe article captures important trends and tendencies in public governance and thus in conditions for school leadership. The general movement towards Globalization influences the core trends in national policies and in public governance. But international discourses and practices are formed in national or regional contexts of culture, practice and politics. The author is part of a Nordic context and therefore he observes governance and leadership from this point. But it is possible to translate the analyses to other contexts as well. An analyse of some of the effects of the meetings of transnational influences with national values and practises are discussed in the case of Danish education and school leadership. School leaders are left with a number of dilemmas between traditional, welfare state values and neo-liberal values. They have to find locally satisfying balances between academic proficiencies and competences of curiosity and deliberation.
- PublicationOpen AccessAre discourse comprehension and cognitive processes influenced by the type of language language (English and Spanish)? A cross-language study based on elaborative inferences generation(Universidad de Murcia.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Soriano Ayala, Encarnación; González Jiménez, Antonio JoséPart of adolescence develops during secondary education years, which is an ideal time to work on emotional relation by means of various emotional competences. This study was carried out on Spanish and immigrant adolescents, and aims to identify emotional competences adolescents use to solve conflicts that may arise in their affective-sexual relations, so that guidelines for educational intervention in multicultural schools may be suggested. The approach undertaken was focused ethnography. The sample comprised 80 adolescents of eight nationalities. Data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews. A set of categories was identified for the analysis of data. Two key findings were: 1) culture influences affective-sexual relations and the construction of emotional competences, and 2) the fact that classrooms are multicultural is positive because it facilitates educational intervention in emotional competences in the affective-sexual field.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Marugan de Miguelsanz, Montserrat; Carbonero Martín, Miguel Ángel; León, Benito; Galán, ManueIn this paper the relation between high intellectual capabilities and information retrieval strategies are studied. The variables are: sex, age, educational level and creativity. Strategies were measured with the ACRA Scales (Román and Gallego, 1994, 2004). General intelligence was measured with the "g" Factor Test (Cattell and Cattell, 1990) and the Progressive Matrices Test (Raven, 1996). Creativity was analyzed using the TAEC Abreaction Test (de la Torre, 1991). Primary School and Compulsory Secondary Education students (aged 9-14) from Castilla y León (Spain) were chosen because of their high intellectual capability. Results show a significant association between general intelligence and information retrieval strategies. Age determines to some extent the use of strategies. The relation between a high intellectual capability and creativity only promotes the use of Written Answer strategies. A revision of evaluations of perceived use versus evaluations of real use of strategies is proposed.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Medina Rivilla, Antonio; Domínguez Garrido, Mª Concepción; Sánchez Romero, CristinaCompetence is an essential element in innovative educational models in the European area, and a basic framework for teaching, yet also a controversial issue for those who believe that teaching students should go beyond competence acquisition. General and specific competences are necessary in continuous education models focused on life-long learning. This paper presents a developmental study on the acquisition of professional competences by Psychopedagogy students during a period of three years. It shows that the model, methods, and competence assessment have consolidated, thus reflecting how these may be mastered when they are integrated into life projects and professional practice.

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Hernández Conesa, Juana María; Torralba Madrid, María José; Navarro Perán, María ÁngelesIn this study we analyzed the relationship between ideology and educational policy in nursing studies during the Franco regime in Spain. Using Gadamer´s analysis of the Contents of compulsory subjects such as Professional Morality and Religion, this study showed the crucial influence of the Catholic Church in teaching. Also, we initiated and developed a discussion, unexplored until then, on Contents and Recipients, which led us to conclude that nursing studies during the Franco regime were defined to be "aimless". A change in the terminology from Nurse to Registered Nurse set aside other educational objectives related to the development of scientific and critical thinking skills. This implies a social redefinition in teaching.
- PublicationOpen AccessJuegos deportivos y emociones. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Lavega Burgués, Pere; March Llanes, Jaume; Filella Guiu, GemmaThe aim of this study was to validate the Games and Emotions Scale (GES) based on three types of emotions (positive, negative, and ambiguous) in four sports game scenarios related to different motor action domains. The study was conducted on 851 Physical Education and Sports students from four Spanish, one English, and one Portuguese university. The GES yield an adequate reliability and values of internal consistency. We obtained good construct validity that confirmed the factor structure of the scale in the three types of emotions and also highlighted the need to differentiate between the four motor action domains. Convergent validity showed good results when comparing the GES with the Profile of moods states questionnaire (POMS). Content validity confirmed that the structure of the GES is adequate to study the relation between sports games and emotions. In conclusion, validity and reliability of this questionnaire to record the intensity of emotions in sports games were confirmed.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Mingorance Arnáiz, Cristina; Calvo Bernardino, AntonioWhen we use a teaching methodology to strengthen different skills, we need to adapt our evaluation procedures to assess to what extend skills have been achieved. A teaching system focused on teaching skills may have an adverse effect on learning. Our goal is to identify if the use of different teaching methodologies has a positive impact on student learning, and if there are particular kinds of tasks that may be more appealing or appropriate for student, so that they pass exams. In order to do this, we use results obtained by students during several academic years.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) González, Rosario ArroyoThe purpose of this investigation is to describe the cognitive-linguistic, metacognitve-affective, and socio-cultural processes involved in written composition of university students. These processes are universally applied by expert writers in any language, thus may be considered developmental processes in the multilingual writer. Furthermore, these processes are essential in technological communication. A methodological design was used in this study, in which written cognitive interviews were conducted with a sample of 86 university students. The Method of Content Analysis allowed the application of a categorization system which operatively defined the written processes expressed by students. In terms of frequency, the results showed that university students display a certain degree of procedural, affective and socio-cultural writing competence, and that there is a need for specific programmes which foster professional and scientific use of written composition stressing the importance of conditional processes.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Muñoz-Cantero, Jesús Miguel; Novo-Corti, Isabel; Rebollo-Quintela, NuriaThis paper examines the support for the inclusion of employees with disabilities in the workplace, based on gender. We chose a random sample of 123 employees of both sexes working in the textile sector. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) was used as a theoretical model of reference. The results showed a trend in the workplace opposite to that identified by Alonso, Navarro and Vicente (2008), and Novo-Corti, Muñoz-Cantero and Calvo-Porral (2011) on attitudes of inclusion in schools. Results showed that the intention to support inclusion was determined by perceived control and that gender is a relevant variable to explain intention.
Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) Suárez Riveiro, José Manuel; Rubio Sánchez, Verónica; Antúnez Horcajo, Raúl; Fernández Suárez, Ana PatriciaThe objective of this article is to understand the teaching and commitment goals towards one´s job from the point of view of candidates applying for state primary education positions, which is a group that has hardly been studied. The sample is made up of candidates applying for primary education posts. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2013-01-07) García-García, Mercedes; Biencinto López, Chantal; Carpintero-Molina, Mª Elvira; Núñez-del-Río, María Cristina; Arteaga Martínez, BlancaThis article deals with the problem of low achievement in instrumental subjects such as Mathematics from the perspective of Adaptive Theory. It was assumed that schools, aware of diversity in their classrooms, would plan educational strategies accordingly in order to cater for different students, thus achieving better results than schools which focus on groups as a whole. Using a quasi-experimental research design, three types of interventions were compared in terms of the degree of inclusiveness of their projects. The sample comprised 437 second year Compulsory Secondary Education students from different schools in Madrid. Mathematics performance and attitude towards the subject were measured. Contrastive analyses were carried out before and after the intervention. Results show differences in mathematics performance in favour of inclusive schools; however, no improvement in the attitude toward the subject was observed.
