Abstract
Este artículo presenta un análisis de la performance Tzompantli de la artista Deborah Castillo (Caracas, 1971) realizada en el Museo de Arte Moderno de la Ciudad de México en abril de 2024. El objetivo consiste en examinar su proceso de creación y las acciones comunicativas planteadas por la artista como un modo de generar una narrativa anticolonial de algunos personajes históricos homenajeados todavía hoy en los relatos hegemónicos sobre la colonización de las Américas. El marco teórico metodológico articula herramientas de los saberes de la magia popular, las cosmovisiones afrodescendientes e indígenas, la fabulación especulativa y los estudios de performance.
In this article I analyze Tzompantli a performance by the artist Deborah Castillo (Caracas, 1971) showed at the Modern Art Museum in Mexico City in April 2024. The aim is to examine the creation process and the communicative actions proposed by the artist as a way to generate an anticolonial narrative of some historical characters still honored today by the hegemonic narratives about the colonization of the Americas. The methodological and theoretical framework articulates tools from the knowledge of Western popular magic, Afro-descendant and indigenous worldviews, Speculative fabulation and Performance studies
