Description
Abstract
A continuación, y
Community social work, since its beginnings, has developed in morally heterogeneous societies where different communities share public spaces and services, as well as places of employment, education, health and leisure. The diversity of value conceptions and identities present in specific territories is at the heart of many of the conflicts that we find in this field of intervention. The article provides a brief conceptual approach to community social work, highlighting the need for concepts that take into account the reality in which we intervene, since the expectations, preferences and difficulties faced by the people who currently live in the neighbourhoods where we work, are not the same as those of the original inhabitants. The notion of community is a controversial issue that is also pointed out. Next, and on the basis that theoretical work is a requirement that enables greater levels of understanding and greater effectiveness in intervention, the article consists of a theoretical reflection based on the theory of recognition elaborated by Axel Honneth. The article ends by making a contribution to the urgent reflection that the profession needs, which results in a series of guidelines that update and deepen the practical development of community social work, taking into account the particularities of the contexts where they will be applied.
