Abstract
El presente estudio analiza la recepción de la obra de la socióloga marroquí
Fatima Mernissi en España, a través de sus traducciones del inglés y del
francés, en un contexto histórico-político marcado por la incorporación de
escritoras árabes al mercado editorial occidental, por un lado, y la
consagración de la teoría del choque de civilizaciones de Huntington y su
articulación del islam como ideología, por otro. Para ello, se presta especial
atención tanto a las técnicas de traducción con las que Mernissi subvierte la
visión orientalista de la mujer árabe, como al tratamiento del aparato
paratextual de las traducciones por parte las editoriales españolas para
reubicar las obras dentro de dicho paradigma, y las diferentes lecturas –académicas y en la red-, que de su obra se han hecho.
This research analyzes the reception of the work of the Moroccan sociologist Fatima Mernissi in Spain, through its translations from English and French, inside a historical-political context characterized by the incorporation of Arab Women Writers in the western publishing market, on the one hand, and the diffusion of the Huntington´s theory of the clash of civilizations and its articulation of Islam as an ideology, on the other. For this, special attention is paid both to the translation techniques with which Mernissi subverts the orientalist vision of the Arab woman, and to the treatment of the paratextual apparatus of translations by Spanish publishers to relocate Mernissi´s work within that paradigm, and the different readings - academic and online - that have been made of her books.
