Abstract
La investigación de Galo Sánchez, pionera en la formación de la disciplina de la
historia del derecho, se basa en una estrategia de genética textual y en una teoría de las
formas consuetudinarias, elaboradas entre 1915 y 1917, a partir de las cuales se desarrollan, entre 1919 y 1922, trabajos de edición y estudio de fuentes que aplican un
método comparativo e intentan dilucidar el significado histórico del «aspecto jurídico».
Fundado el AHDE en 1924, Galo Sánchez traza ciclos de análisis del derecho territorial castellano y de crítica bibliográfica. El recorrido científico del autor culmina en los
años 30 con la elaboración de un curso de historia del derecho, dedicado a sus fuentes. ------------------------
Galo Sánchez’s research, a pioneer in the formation of the discipline of legal history, was based on a strategy of textual genetics and a theory of customary forms, elaborated between 1915 and 1917, on the basis of which, between 1919 and 1922, work was carried out on editing and studying sources, applying a comparative method and attempting to elucidate the historical significance of the «legal aspect». After the AHDE was founded in 1924, Galo Sanchez traced cycles of analysis of Castilian territorial law and bibliographical criticism. The author’s scientific career culminated in the 1930s with the development of a handbook on the history of law, dedicated to legal sources.
