Description
Abstract
universitario.
At the end of the Spanish Civil War, the Women's Section, founded in 1934, became dependent on the State and focused on training all women, exalting a female role as housewife and mother. This training included, among other things, the practice of preparing women to take charge of home and family. The latter activity was called Social Service and was compulsory for single women between the ages of 17 and 35. In this article, the relation between women's university studies and this Service will be analyzed, since it was essential for single women, and for those ones not working in specific social tasks, to carry it out in order to obtain a university degree
