- PublicationOpen AccessProposed criteria for classifying physical fitness levels of high school students according to the General Education Program of Vietnam(Servicio de publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Hà, Nguyễn Thị; Dịu, Hà Minh; Toàn, Nguyễn Mạnh; Sin departamento asociadoThis study aimed to propose criteria for evaluating and classifying the physical fitness of high school students in accordance with the requirements of Vietnam’s General Education Program for Physical Education, while also examining the feasibility and urgency of these criteria within the practical context of student assessment. The research employed methods of document analysis and synthesis, interviews, social surveys, and pedagogical testing to achieve its objectives. A total of 30 experts, lecturers, teachers, and scientists, together with 900 students, participated in testing the scientific basis of the selected assessment tools, including their reliability and validity, during the selection and trial implementation of tests used to evaluate and classify students’ physical fitness. The study ultimately identified six criteria for evaluating and classifying the physical fitness of high school students, and these criteria were validated through trials that confirmed their feasibility and urgency in practice. When applied regularly, these criteria can accurately assess and classify students’ physical fitness, thereby meeting the requirements of Vietnam’s General Education Program for Physical Education.
- PublicationOpen AccessEffects of formative assessment on academic performance in physical education among high school students(Servicio de publicaciones.
- PublicationOpen AccessDecreased HOMA-IR levels after physical exercise as a therapy to reduce insulin resistance: A systematic review(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Wibawa, Junian Cahyanto; Putro, Baskoro Nugroho; Putra, Dany Pramuno; Sin departamento asociadoA sedentary lifestyle can increase metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to determine how physical activity reduces insulin resistance by reducing HOMA-IR levels. This study also provides a theoretical basis for physical exercise in preventing insulin resistance in humans. For our systematic review, we searched several literature databases (PubMed, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect) for articles published in the past five years that examined physical activity and HOMA-IR. A total of 422 published papers were located using the Web of Science, Pubmed, and Science Direct databases. Ten papers that satisfied the inclusion criteria were chosen and examined for this systematic review. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) were used in this study to assess standard operating procedures. It has been demonstrated that regular exercise lowers insulin resistance by lowering HOMA-IR values. It has been proven that physical exercise is the best therapy for people with metabolic diseases, especially insulin resistance. Physical exercise has been shown to significantly reduce insulin resistance by decreasing HOMA-IR levels. Therefore, regular physical exercise is highly recommended as the best therapy for insulin resistance in humans.
- PublicationOpen AccessEffectiveness of culture-based game exercises on cognitive function in older adults participating in gymnastics(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Waluyo, Sumarni Djoko; Kushartanti, Bernadetta Maria Wara; Sutarni, Sri; Padli; Sudibjo, Prijo; Sin departamento asociadoThe aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of culture-based game exercise training on the cognitive function of older adults. This study was a quasi-experimental research with a pre-test and post-test control design. The research subjects were 40 elderly individuals who are members of the Teratai elderly gymnastics group in the Nogotirto Gamping housing area, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research instruments included the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) to measure cognitive function, along with video recordings of physical exercise activities, recordings of culture-based game songs, and exercise props. After being given the intervention of culture-based game exercise training in the intervention group (IG), there was a significant improvement in cognitive function scores from pre-test to post-test (MMSE score: Fh;df=19; α=3.622; p=.003 < .05), and there was a significant difference in the change in MMSE scores between the intervention group (IG) and the control group (CG) (Fh;df=19; α=0.280; p = .004 < .05) with a large effect size (d=2.363). In the control group (CG), which engaged in daily activities such as singing culture-based game songs, cognitive function also improved, but the change was not statistically significant (p>.05). In conclusion, culture-based game exercise is effective in improving cognitive function in older adults.
- PublicationOpen AccessEffectiveness of myofascial release technique versus dry cupping therapy in management of patients with non-specific low back pain(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Abdallah, Ghada A.; Hafez, Hanaa Ali; Helmy, Amany Mahmoud; Nassif, Ayman A.; Fergany, Lamyaa Ahmed; Toson, Rokaia A.; Ghaleb, Heba Ahmed Mousa; Atta, Hanaa K.; Mohamed, Rabab A.; Sin departamento asociadoThis study aimed to compare the effects of myofascial release and cupping techniques on pain levels, spinal mobility, and functional impairments in individuals with non specific low back pain (NSLBP). This study was a randomized controlled trial employing a pre test and post test design. Sixty male and female patients diagnosed with NSLBP, aged 45 to 55, participated. They were randomly assigned to three groups: Group A, in which 20 patients received my ofascial release (MFR) along with conventional physical therapy; Group B, in which 20 patients received cupping therapy in addition to conventional physical therapy; and Group C, in which 20 patients received only conventional physical therapy. All groups underwent treatment three times per week for four consecutive weeks. Visual analog scale (VAS) results indicated significant improvements within each group; however, group A demonstrated superior pain reduction compared to groups B and C (p< 0.05). Addition ally, all three groups exhibited improvements in functional disability levels and range of motion, with group A showing statistically significant superiority over the other two groups (p< 0.05). In conclusion, myofascial release therapy was more effective t han cupping therapy in reducing pain, improving functional impairment, and enhancing lumbar range of motion in NSLBP patients.
