Abstract
En este texto se estudia la evolución de los bautismos en la región murciana lo largo los siglos XVI y XVIII. Una evolución marcada, primero, por el bajo punta de partida, atribuible a la prolongada situación fronteriza del territorio. Y, después, por el fuerte crecimiento demográfico experimentado durante la época moderna. Un crecimiento en el que se ha destacado el papel desempeñado en la apertura del espacio rural al poblamiento por la crisis del siglo XVII y la reconversión económica subsiguiente.
In this article it is studied the evolution of the baptisms in the region of Murcia throughout the XVI and XVIII centuries. An evolution marked, first, for the weak starting point due to the long situation of the territory border. And, second, for the strong demographic growth during the Modern Age. In this growth is emphasized in the occupation of rural space the crisis of XVII century’s role and also the economic retraining.
