Entre los numerosos epígrafes falsos registrados en las páginas
iniciales del
Corpus
Inscriptionum Latinarum
II (
CIL
II en adelante), los textos relacionados con las campañas de
conquista desarrolladas por los romanos en el solar peninsular
conforman un nutridísimo grupo.
En él se integran tres textos relativos a la segunda Guerra Pún
ica, supuestamente hallados en
Alcañiz (Teruel), y vinculados con Pedro Juan Zapater, historia
dor local que vivió en el siglo
XVII. Pese al carácter evidentemente falso de tales textos, su
alcance y notables implicaciones
supusieron, de un lado, su consideración inmediata y preferente
en diversas obras de historia
civil y eclesiástica del ámbito aragonés y/o alcañizano; y, de
otro, su permanencia en las mismas
aún cuando la denuncia de su falsedad había quedado ya sanciona
da en el propio
CIL

Among the numerous false inscriptions registered in the initial pages of the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum II ( CIL II), the texts connected with the roman conquest of Spain conform a very large group. This is the case of three inscripti ons relatives to the II Punic War, all of them founded, supposelly, in Alcañiz (Teruel province, Aragó n region) and linked with Pedro Juan Zapater, a local historian of the XVII century. Because th eir signifi cance and historical implications, and despite their obvius spurious character, thes e inscriptions took preferent place in different historical works from his geographical context (Ar agón/Alcañiz), and subsisted in the local historiography after their inclussion, between false inscriptions, in CIL II
