Description
Abstract
The recognition of the background of touristic culture allows us to open new horizons both for the future development of tourism in the case study of Mallorca, as well as at a global level, by assessing its role in the shaping of current fluid cultures, defined by their complexity outside previous exclusionary normativity, as well as by their attraction derived from their inclusive and cosmopolitan agglutinating character. After a brief introduction on tourist culture, secondly, we focus on reviewing and redefining the concept of balearization, in order to be able, thirdly, to develop the characteristics of the contemporary culture of Mallorca, and to be able, fourthly, to validate them empirically as part of a tourist culture and finally, fifthly, to conclude on the relevance of the recognition of this touristic culture both for the identity redefinition of the specific case, and for the current redefinition of tourism on a global scale.
