Abstract
El estudio de una institución cultural que se integra en la sociedad actual, ha de comenzar
inevitablemente por el conocimiento de su historia. En este trabajo de revisión teórica,
nos proponemos aportar algunos apuntes, bosquejos, reflexiones, etc., que nos permitan
aproximarnos al concepto de museo contemporáneo. Una mirada retrospectiva y desde
el presente a la institución museística varias veces centenaria, nos lleva a trazar algunos
planteamientos y sugerencias ligados a contribuir desde la ciencia museológica y pedagógica
en el permanente proceso de reconstrucción en el que se encuentra inmerso el museo de la
sociedad que nos acoge. El notable auge del arte contemporáneo en la actualidad, junto con
el poder del museo de arte contemporáneo para atraer público y generar en él expectativas
culturales, de ocio y/o consumo, ligado además al reto que tiene el museo actual de valerse
de las potencialidades de las nuevas tecnologías para el desarrollo de sus funciones, justifican
las aportaciones que ponemos de manifiesto en aras de proyectar pautas y pistas para que el
museo consiga acercar el público a la cultura y viceversa.
ABSTRACT: The study of a cultural institution integrated into our current society, must inevitably begin with the knowledge of its own history. This theoretical review paper, try to contribute some notes, sketches, reflections, etc., to reflect about the concept of a contemporary museum. To do so, we show a retrospect and current study of this type of institution, several hundred years old, and raise issues related to current museological science. The remarkable boom of the contemporary art that take places in the present-day, the power of museum of contemporary art to attract people and generate it cultural expectations, leisure and / or consumption, along with the challenge of using the multiple possibilities of new technologies, justify our contributions in order to offer guidelines and tracks for the museum to get the public closer to the culture and vice versa.
