Abstract
D. Pedro de Alcantara Garcia Navarro, Ilamado por sus contemporaneos Sr. Alcantara, dedicó toda su vida (1842-1906) al estudio y divulgación de la ciencia pedagógica. Maestro y profesor en las Escuelas Normales Certrales de Maestros y Maestras defendió con entusiasmo la entidad propia de las Escuelas Normales, el estudio de Ia Antropología Pedagógica y paidológica de las mismas y Ia necesidad de estudios pedagógicos para todos los que se dedicaran a Ia educación y Ia enseñanza en todos sus niveles. Su anhelo era que las E.N. se convirtieran en verdaderos Institutos pedagógicos, atendiendo teórica y prácticamente a la vez que a Ia instrucción, a la fornnación general y profesional de sus alumnos.
Pedro Alcántara Garcia Navarro devoted his whole lite (1842-1906) to the study and promotion of the pedagogical science. He was teacher and professor in Central Normal Schools of Teachers (Central Teacher Training Colleges) whose own entity he eagerly proposes. Not only did he defend that entity but he also supported the study of the Pedagogic and Paidologic Anthropology of these Centers and the need of pedagogic studies for those people entering any level of Teaching and Educating. His most beloved care was that Teacher Training Colleges should become real Pedagogic Institutes where students should be attended. Both from theoretical and practical aspects, on general and professional teaching leaming field.
