Description
Abstract
Notitia Dignitatum
y los conocimientos de la historiografía actual
sobre el ejército romano tardío
In this article it ́s intended to capture a clear and complete image of Constantius Chlorus as military commander, in spite of the scarce evidence that offer us the late sources and specially the contemporary authors of the emperor. Offers as well a research of the profile and framework of the military unit called Solenses Galicani , considering some guidelines and suggestions from the scarce literary testimonies to give some additional light to the little known tactical and strategic aspects of the Tetrarchy armies. It sets a hypothesis about the ethnic composition, structure and function of that legion on the battlefield, using the information of the Notitia Dignitatum and the knowledge of our contemporary historiography concerning the Late Roman Army
