Abstract
Este artículo trata de investigar en qué medida la filosofía práctica de Aristóteles puede
ofrecer un fundamento sólido a la filosofía popperiana, en especial a su interés por fundar una democracia en términos de sociedad abierta. Propongo que se entienda la sociedad abierta, siguiendo a Aristóteles, como aquella comunidad política en la que, al poder ser de otra manera, cabe la deliberación, la discusión, la crítica y, por tanto, la capacidad de construir un futuro determinado sólo por lo que los hombres quieran hacer con su libertad. Si esto fuera así, a la racionalidad y a la sociabilidad, como notas distintivas de la especificidad de lo humano según Aristóteles, podría sumarse la concepción popperiana de la apertura.
This paper is to investigate in what sense Aristotle’s practical philosophy can provide a solid basis for Popper’s philosophy, especially for his interest in founding a democracy in terms of open society. I propose that the open society is understood, following Aristotle, like the political community in which, to can be otherwise, It is possible deliberation, discussion, criticism and therefore the ability to build a future determined only by what men want to do with their freedom. Therefore, to rationality and sociability, as hallmarks of the specificity of the human, is added here the opening.
