Abstract
En este estudio descriptivo se mide la madurez sintáctica de seis
universitarios en un programa de estudios en el extranjero: dos hablantes
nativas de español, dos hablantes de herencia y dos hablantes nativos de
inglés que estudian español como lengua extranjera, todos ellos provienen
de distintas universidades estadounidenses. Para la medición de la madurez
sintáctica se ha recopilado un corpus de textos de narración histórica y se
han usado los índices desarrollados por Hunt (1965, 1967, 1970a, 1970b).
Los resultados señalan que existe una relación entre una mayor madurez
sintáctica y los siguientes índices: la longitud promedio de la oración, la longitud promedio de la unidad terminal y el promedio de cláusula por
unidad terminal.
This descriptive study measures the syntactic maturity of six university students who are proceeding studying abroad program: two are native speakers of Spanish, two are heritage speakers and two English-speaking students of Spanish as a foreign language, all of whom come from different USA universities. For the syntactic maturity measurement, a corpus of historical narratives in Spanish was compiled and the indices developed by Hunt (1965, 1967, 1970a, 1970b) have been used. Results indicate a relationship between the syntactic maturity of the texts and the following indices: words per sentence, words per T-unit and clauses per T-unit.
