Description
Abstract
The interventions carried out in the archaeological site of Libisosa (Lezuza, Albacete, Spain) the last few years have centred mainly on its Iberian-Roman phase, buried by its instantaneous destruction, which would be final for this Oretan oppidum during the Sertorian war. The quantity, variety and conservation state of its materials and structures constitute an unending source for the study of the Late Iberian period and Republican Hispania. Meanwhile, a much more nuanced view has been highlighted by new discoveries, which include closed contexts that could correspond to a slightly earlier period, with a place of worship standing out. This reinforces the hypothesis of an early contact between the local elites inhabiting the settlement and Roman agents, emphasized by a privileged geo-strategic location relative to the routes of communication.
