Description
Abstract
Children's cinema can be considered part of children's literature when this is understood in its broadest sense. The protagonist of the story can be a traditional character or a cartoon thus creating a new and specific type of language. Cinema can and ought to play a supportive role in child development, adapting to the age of the child and fulfilling some requirements which make it a valueable teaching resource. The primary school teacher should have a sound training in the language of cinema and specially in that of cartoons, with a view to teaching the child to acquire a critical appreciation of the films offered to hirn. In this way cinema will stop being a culturally marginal phenomenon in schools
