Abstract
La Escuela Normal de Magisterio de Santander (1844) ha
sido uno de los centros educativos más influyentes de
Santander y es el más antiguo de los que están actualmente
integrados en la Universidad de Cantabria. La fundación, en
el año 1915, de la Escuela Normal Femenina permitió a las
mujeres alcanzar una preparación mayor de la que hasta ese
momento podían aspirar. A pesar de su importancia en la
vida escolar y cultural de la región, es muy poco lo que se
conoce de la historia de este centro docente. Este trabajo
tiene como finalidad aportar datos sobre la fundación de la
Escuela en 1915: profesorado, alumnos y actividades.
The Ordinary School of Education of Santander (1844) has been one of the most influencing educational institutions in Santander (Spain) and is the oldest one currently within the Universidad de Cantabria (Spain). This School was founded in 1915 and allowed women to achieve a better education than that they could gain until then. Despite its importance in the educational and cultural life of the region, we know very little about its history. In this article we analyse the history of the foundation of this School in 1915, focusing on its teachers, students and activities.
