Abstract
La creación de las U.C.I. y la atención al paciente politraumatizado han modificado los
criterios acerca de la muerte. En Intensivos se poseen equipos y métodos que mantiene de
forma prolongada la función cardiorrespiratoria de pacientes que hubieran sido considerados
fallecidos según el criterio tradicional del cese de la función.
ABSTRACT: The creation of the Intensive Care Units and the attention to politraumatized patients have led to a change of the criteria about death. Thanks to their equipment and methodology, at Intensive Care Units it is possible to maintain the cardiorespiratory function of patients who, otherwise, would have been considered dead.
