Abstract
Teaching material for the training of environmental health edu-leaders through the program “Environmental Health Educaventuras: Healthy Ecosystems – Healthy Neurodevelopment”. This resource was developed within the Pediatric Environmental Health Unit of Murcia (PEHSU Murcia), IMIB Pascual Parrilla, Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca and the University of Murcia. It is designed to reconnect children, adolescents, professionals and communities with nature while promoting healthier lifestyles, social innovation, participation and planetary health. The material is aimed at primary, secondary and university students, health, education, culture and environmental professionals, community assets, municipal staff, members of environmental health networks, and citizens interested in health and nature. Its learning methodology is active, experiential and practice-oriented, based on a training-for-trainers approach: it combines short theoretical contextualization, collaborative work, practical workshops, immersive learning in natural settings, and the design of participant-led “educaventuras” that can later be adapted and reproduced in other contexts. The program includes five theoretical-practical educaventuras focused on nature reconnection, neurodevelopment, environmental sustainability and health promotion, and it incorporates follow-up challenges in natural environments, as well as evaluation components related to wellbeing, environmental exposure, quality of life, carbon footprint and connection with nature. The material was used in the I Workshop for Environmental Health Edu-leaders of the University of Murcia, held through CASIOPEA with activities in the ArboretUM and online, and it has also been used in activities developed in collaboration with FUNDOWN. It is framed within the project “Healthy Ecosystems – Healthy Neurodevelopment”, described in the document as a PEHSU initiative within the Pediatric Environmental Health Research Group (IMIB Pascual Parrilla), supported through the Directorate General of Public Health and Addictions and the National Plan on Drugs, and linked to the broader line of work on the health benefits of contact with nature.
