Description
Abstract
This work investigates the presence of English poetry in the journal published by the Grupo Cán- tico. Following a chronological order, we analyse literary reviews of English books, critical articles (panoramic and specific), as well as translations of English poetry, some in monolingual and others in bilingual versions. Short analytic excerpts are also included to demonstrate the equivalence and fidelity of the target texts with respect to the origi- nals, while also addressing the fragments’ thema- tic content. Finally, we look at two characteristic features of the publication Cántico. Hojas de Poe- sía (Canticle. Pages of Poetry), founded by the Cordovans Ricardo Molina, Pablo García Baena and Juan Bernier in October of 1947: universality, openness and an eagerness to revitalise Spanish poetry through the heterogeneity of this Cordovan journal.
