Abstract
Resumen: Este artículo analiza la situación lingüística en el Canadá francófono. La lengua es un instrumento fundamental de comunicación y de creación cultural. Pero en Quebec, un espacio mayoritariamente anglófono, ha sido un instrumento de lucha y de reivindicación. La sociedad francófona americana ha buscado el modo de afirmar una identidad propia y nueva, ni americana ni francesa, precisamente a través de la lengua. En este artículo se analiza la situación lingüística en Quebec, se describe su lengua francesa a través de sus componentes lingüísticos, léxicos, fonéticos o sintácticos, y la revolución provocada por el joual.
Abstract: This article analyzes the linguistic situation in French-speaking Canada. Language is a fundamental instrument of communication and cultural production. But in Quebec, a prominently English-speaking area, this has also been a vindication instrument. The Canadian Frenchspeaking world has been searching for a new identity, neither Canadian, nor French, and this by means of the language. In this article I analyze the linguistic situation in Quebec. I also describe the linguistic features of the French spoken here, as well as the “revolution” induced by the joual.
