Description
Abstract
Abstract: «Liquid modernity» has been the concept Zygmunt Bauman introduced just over a decade in its attempt to capture the essence of the «modern times». In the meantime, the idea of a liquid modernity has become one of the favorite metaphors to think our societies in a reflexive way. In this article I will try to offer some general keys of the work of Zygmunt Bauman in order to give an specific content to this metaphor of a «liquid world» and also to show the connection between Bauman’s investigations on the «solid phase» of the modern world and on the «liquid one». The ultimate purpose is to provide a general map of reading of one of the more lucid and morally compromised thinkers in recent European culture.
