Description
Abstract
This article is a summary of the history of the psychopedagogic education of Spanish University lecturers. The recent change in orientation is analysed which the author con- nects to the system used to evaluate university lecturers by means of surveys, and to the progressive application of the National Plan for the evaluation of Quality in Universities and to the new European Area of Higher Education. The article highlights the fact that the evolution systems have caused, since the middle of the 1990’s, a notable increase in the interest shown by Spanish Universities in the Psychopedagogic education of their lecturers, in such a way that nowadays they all organize some sort of activity aimed at the Psychopedagogic education of their lecturers. The recent increase in investigations, publications, congresses, seminars, networks and forums for debate related to this topic is analysed. Information is included about educational plans currently existing and diffi- culties, problems and alternatives relating to these plans. Finally, the need for important changes within the university and its lecturers is emphasised for the sake of a two-fold pedagogic mission: to educate competent professionals who are at the same time free, learned, respectful, democratic, critical, tolerant and happy citizens.
