Description
Abstract
contextos controlados.
This paper analyses some of the aspects on the development of optimism during compulsory schooling, the point of departure being the socio-personal competences and Positive Psychology. It is argued that the latter can provide new and important insights into the understanding of the development of our children's and adolescents' strenghts and that the knowledge gained thanks to Positive Psychology is specially relevant to understand and to develop those strengths. Analysed from the perspective of optimism, some theoretical aspects on the construct are reviewed, as well as the relation with personal adaptation, with factors promoting its development and the ages at which these changes can take place. Finally, the paper offers some interventions which have been successful in given controlled contexts.
