It is usual in all the texts that narrate the history of the Spanish song or copla, to situate Ropa tendida as a foundational moment, as much for the collaboration of the trio of creators Quintero-León-Quiroga as for the protagonism of its interpreter, Concha Piquer. However, the existing academic literature provides little data on this show and, on occasion, these are erroneous. For this reason, this article will analyze the show Retablo español (1942), focusing both on the configuration of the product itself, based on previous creations and models corresponding to the republican period, and on its reception.
