- PublicationOpen AccessKokori, un Serious Game. La perspectiva de los estudiantes ante una propuesta de aprendizaje innovadora.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2015) Bossolasco, María Luisa; Enrico, Roxana Judith; Casanova, Beatríz Adriana; Enrico, Eugenia ElizabethThis article shows the results of a learning experience which was proposed to the students to participate in a video game, considering this game as another activity in their learning process. The purpose of the study was to investigate the reasons why students chose to play / not to play as well as their beliefs about the feasibility of including such proposals in education and its potential benefits for learning. The analysis of the results was performed by focusing on motivational processes. First year students and teachers of the Biological Sciences degree took part in this experience. The results showed that the participation in the activity of playing the video game seems to have responded to extrinsic goals, but then by investigating the learning experience and the ability to replicate this type of academic activities in other contexts, it would apparently have generated a subsequent intrinsic motivation. The students came to play to take an evaluative exercise, but after having the experience of learning, it was incorporated as a significant and applicable experience in other learning contexts. Those environmental issues that could act as motivational elements are referred in the discussion, paying special attention to the design of academic activities.
- PublicationOpen AccessEl diseño instruccional de los MOOC y el de los nuevos cursos abiertos personalizados(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2015) Zapata-Ros, MiguelThis article deals with a justified, sound, summarised proposal for a procedure to create the instructional design of a course. This course might be a MOOC, but also an open, personalised, on-line course. The article is organised into two sections. The first one is a review of theoretical aspects which should be taken into account for the instructional design of open, on- line courses. The second one is a brief guide for instructional design. The review and the guide are the first part of a larger piece of work, which will be developed in full and in a more detailed way in future presentations, such as articles, guides and cases as examples.
- PublicationOpen AccessEvaluación de un curso de postgrado administrado bajo la modalidad E-learning desde la perspectiva del aprendizaje socializado(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2015) Dávila, Alirio; Ruiz Bolívar, CarlosThe purpose of this evaluative study was to promote the achievement of the competency of managing courses in a virtual learning environment. The educational experience was developed during the period of May to July, 2014; it was a 12-weeks long program in which theoretical and practical academic activities took placed, in a virtual classroom designed in Moodle platform, at a public university in Barquisimeto city (Venezuela). The results indicate that: (a) students learned about instructional design, academic management and theories and concepts; (b) 94% of them felt that their satisfaction level with the learning achieved was between the categories of "Completely satisfied" (76%) and "Fairly satisfied" (18%); (c) 59% self-assessed their learning performance as "Excellent"; while 35% considered it as "Good"; (d) the most valued aspects of the course were: the quality of tutor, interaction, content and assessment rubrics; (e) 94% prefer e-learning for future formation; (f) the course was rated "excellent" by 76% of participants and "Good" by 24%; and (g) there was a wide acceptance of techno-socio-constructivist pedagogical model being used.
- PublicationOpen AccessValidación de requisitos funcionales de un Laboratorio Virtual Remoto como apoyo al blended learning(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2015) Gamo Aranda, Javier; Medina Rivilla, Antonio; Rodrigo San Juan, CovadongaThis research analyzes the requirements detected among students and teachers of scientific- technical education, on the design and functionality of a future web platform implementing a Virtual Remote Laboratory (VRL). The VRL is currently in the design phase, and is intended to supplement the experimental classroom teaching on Optics and Photonics. To this end, we have designed two surveys (for teachers and students, respectively), in order to gather their needs and expectations on the use and contents of the virtual platform. Surveys have been published in English and Spanish, their contents were validated by experts worldwide in science, engineering and education, and distributed online between students and teachers of Spanish and foreign universities. This paper describes the detailed structure of the surveys, the assessment by experts on the content thereof, the reliability analysis performed, the results of the completion by teachers and students, and the discussion thereof, conducted jointly with the help of a group of experts.
- PublicationOpen AccessConstrucción de conocimiento en educación virtual: Nuevos roles, nuevos cambios(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2015) Manzuoli, Cristina; Escofet Roig, AnnaThis paper presents the results of a study that analyzes the perceptions of teachers facing their role in digital teaching and learning environments in Colombia, South America. The study was carried out in two Higher Education institutions that offer undergraduate programs in virtual mode. The research used qualitative and quantitative techniques by conducting focus groups and observation of virtual classrooms. A survey was also conducted among teachers with more than six-month experience in the modality. The results suggest that the teacher role by the student and the communication between students are scarce, and that difficulties in the interaction do not allow a true collaborative focused on the construction of knowledge.
