This change would be consequence of the necessity to justify themselves through the social utility of its services, as well as to improve their image in society and to promote their libraries, in a context of the large range of informative, educative and cultural offers available.

In particular, blogs, wikis and social networks are considered ways to produce and publish information that contribute to acquire information literacy. We also explain how Web 2.0 modifies some practices and principles of librarianship, and because of these changes we consider that librarian should be educator in the Internet context, using a new Spanish word, entrenauta, with which we synthesized this proposed role.

Participar en la información local digital a través de localpedias(EPI SCP, Barcelona, Spain, 2011-05) Gómez-Hernández, José-Antonio; Saorín, Tomás; Información y DocumentaciónThis paper justifies participation by public libraries in designing and publishing in localpedias as a way to promote collaboration in the creation of local content. For this purpose, the “localpedia” concept is explained and some of the main Spanish localpedia experiences described. Finally, some difficulties in consolidating this way of creating and sharing local knowledge are discussed.
