    Ewing's sarcoma of the cervix: a case report and review of literature.

    Ewing’s sarcoma (ES) is a small cell malignant tumor that occurs in the bone of children or adolescents. ES can also occur in extraskeletal organs, such as the pancreas, thyroid, liver, proximal phalanx, and, rarely, cervix. Only 15 published case reports have discussed ES arising in the cervix. We report a 76-year- old woman who had groin mass. ES was diagnosed in accordance with morphological and immunohisto- chemical maps. Fluorescence in situ hybridization and RT-PCR (reverse transcription PCR) revealed ESWR1 gene rearrangement and fusion gene formation (EWS- FLI-1), both of which confirmed the diagnosis of ES. Although the patient underwent surgical resection, the patient died without chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This case is the first one to involve a patient aged over 70 years and the fifth one to show metastasis occurrence

    The immune microenvironment of cancer of the uterine cervix

    While several treatment choices exist for cervical cancer, such as surgical therapy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, some patients will still show poor prognosis. HPV infection is a principal factor for cervical cancer development, from early inflammation to proliferation, angiogenesis, and neoplastic growth. While HPV T-cell responses exist, the tumor seems to evade the immune system upon its tolerance. The latter suggests the existence of a confluent tumor microenvironment responsible for the evasion tactics employed by the neoplasm. Therefore, novel biomarkers governing prognosis and treatment planning must be developed, with several studies tackling the significance of the tumor microenvironment in the genesis, development, proliferation, and overall response of cervical cancer during neoplastic processes. This review aims to analyze and contemplate the characteristics of the tumor microenvironment and its role in prognosis, progression, evasion, and invasion, including therapeutic outcome and overall survival.

    Validity and reliability of Veloflex to measure active cervical range of motion in healthy participants

    Background Neck pain has a high annual incidence and decreases the cervical active range of motion (ROM). Clinicians use various methods to evaluate cervical range of motion (CROM) that some of them have also been proposed to give instant feedback. Accordingly, this study aimed to examine the validity and reliability of Veloflex (VF) to measure the CROM by comparison with the cervical range of motion (CROM) device, and to examine their test-retest reliability. Methods Thirty-eight healthy and 20 symptomatic participants were evaluated. Cervical flexion-extension, side bending, and rotations were tested in two sessions, first by the CROM and VF and in the second only with the VF. To evaluate the concurrent validity and agreement between CROM and VF, Pearson correlation coefficient ( r ) and Bland–Altmann plots were used. Reliability were evaluated using intra-class correlation (ICC), standard error of measurement (SEM) and minimal detectable change (MDC). Results CROM and VF showed excellent correlation for all movements ( r > 0.960). Both devices provided small mean ‘bias’ (≤1.29%) in all movements regarding CROM measures. The intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of the VF was excellent (ICC > 0.98). SEMs ranging from 0.72% to 2.38% and the MDC ranging from 1.22° to 2.60° in all participants. The results support the validity and reliability of VF to measure CROM. For its use, with a basic training is enough to get reliable measurements.
