- PublicationOpen AccessValor pronóstico de las pruebas de acceso al INEFC respecto al rendimiento académico(2003-07-01) Planas Anzano, Antoni; Doménech i Massons, Josep M.The establiment of selective mechanisms that limitate the acces to some studies or jobs is a widely extended practise nowadays. This report talks about the analysis of the entry test tojoin the Physical Education studies in INEFC, center of Lleida. In this test both physical and intellectual requeriments are combined. The analysis of the results in this case based on three consecutive promotions of students (1997-1999) shows that the measurings done have a poor predictable value of the academic performance, coinciding with the trend pointend in other researchings, for exemple Herrera Garcia, et. al. (1999). Given the singularity of the degree taught in this center and opposite to other reports, in this one a representative measure of the «physical ability» is inclued. Abilities such as the different tests of the entry aptitude test, with the intention of achieving a greater predictable power. According to the results this intention is quite far away from reality.
First, it centres on identifying the beliefs and theories of future secondary school teachers about education and, second, on analysing the relationship between these theories and the way exams are designed and how classroom space is organised. The test instruments used were applied to a sample of 52 graduates, who were all following the Pedagogical Aptitude Course (CAP) during the academic year 2001-02. Results show that the more traditional teaching models (focused on the teacher) are related with a kind of exam based on rote learning and with a more vertical classroom layout. Significant differences were also found to exist between sciences and arts teachers with regard to the type of exams they set.
- PublicationOpen AccessInclusión y cambios en el aula vía adaptaciones instructivas(2003-07-01) Cardona Moltó, María CristinaWhile the trend toward a more inclusive education is growing, little information exists regarding teachers’ perceptions of within-class instructional adaptations. This article examines how teachers perceive such adaptations in terms of feasibility, effectiveness and desirability of implementation. Kindergarten (n = 16), elementary (n = 34), secondary (n = 26), and high school (n = 13) teachers rated the feasibility, effectiveness and desirability of 29 items on the Escala de Adaptaciones de la Enseñanza (ESAE-Form G) on a Likert-type scale. Results show that instructional adaptations have a moderate teachers’ acceptance and that although a majority of the teachers believe they are feasible and effective, only a minority perceive them as desirable. No statistically significant differences were found between kindergarten, elementary, and secondary teacher ratings. However some differences surfaced when comparing high school vs compulsary grades. Findings are discussed in light of needs for professional practice changes and sustantive reform in teacher training programs for diversity.
- PublicationOpen AccessLas competencias académicas previas y el apoyo familiar en la transición a la universidad(2003-07-01) Figuera, Pilar; Dorio, Inma; Forner, ÁngelThis research tries to present an approach towards students’ comprehension at the beginni of their university lives. The characteristics of integration and success in their transition are analysed through a survey with a sampling of 1.382 students who entered the University of Barcelona attending different courses and degrees in the academic years 1998 and 1999. Taking into account the variables related to the academic and familiar contexts, that is to say, the students’ background and the affective and effective support of their environment, it is evident that the students’ previous academic experience is essential to solve their transition towards university satisfactorily as well as their family support not only to meet their achievement expectancies but also as a way towards motivation regarding their university studies.

- PublicationOpen AccessEstudio transcultural de los enfoques de aprendizaje en Educación Superior(2003-07-01) Buendía Eisman, Leonor; Olmedo Moreno, Eva MaríaThis work takes place in the general lines of the approaches on the academic study defended by Marton and Säljö (1976a, b), Entwistle and Ramsden (1983) or Biggs (1978, 1979, 1987a). Following Biggs (1987) offers we investigate in the trend of the university students towards a learning approach, to see if proper forms exist attending to two variables: cultural model and model of teaching-evaluation. We obtain two fundamental conclusions: it appears that the cultural model is determining the process of teaching-learning; and, it exist a relation between the model of teaching-evaluation and the approach adopted by the student.

- PublicationOpen AccessLa Técnica Delphi como estrategia de consulta a los implicados en la evaluación de programas(2003-07-01) Martínez Piñeiro, EstherThis paper introduces the Delphi Technique as an interesting strategy for taking up with those people who involved in social programs evaluation. To begin with, the technique main features and some considerations on the experts panel configuration and on the application process are presented. Next, consensus and stability, the two criteria for items selection and for consultation process finalisation, are revised.
