dc.description.abstractMatthew Ratcliffe defende que a Psicologia do Senso Comum é incompatível com nosso entendimento interpessoal ordinário, o qual ele diz ser mais fundamentalmente interativo e interpretativo de acordo com as normas sociais do ambiente compartilhado do que baseado em atribuições de estados mentais intencionais. Neste trabalho eu examino a proposta de Ratcliffe, propondo que sua rejeição da leitura mental não é justificada; embora seja certo que a ação coordenada pode decorrer de uma mera compreensão contextual, há casos em que não existe entendimento interpessoal exatamente por falha em leitura mental, assim evidenciando a importância de atribuições de estados mentais.
dc.description.abstractMatthew Rattcliffe defends that Folk Psychology is incompatible with ordinary interpersonal understanding, which he says is more fundamentally interactive and interpretative according to the social rules of the shared environment than based on mental state attributions. In this paper I examine Ratcliffe's position, arguing that his rejection of mindreading is unjustified; although it is right that coordinated action can be a result of mere contextual comprehension, there are cases in which there is no interpersonal understanding exactly because of failed mindreading, thus making clear the importance of mental state attributions.
