Abstract
Esquilo es un autor especialmente atento a los aspectos geográficos, como se puede apreciar
en su interés por el río Nilo, fundamentalmente en Las suplicantes, obra donde la presencia
de Egipto es continua. A lo largo del artículo, hemos analizado la importancia del río Nilo,
de su paisaje y de su peculiar comportamiento en las tragedias de Esquilo y en el imaginario
griego del s. V a. C.
Aeschylus is an author especially concerned with geographical aspects, as it can be seen in his interest on the Nile River, mainly in The Suppliants, a work where the presence of Egypt is ubiquitous. In this article, we have analysed the importance of the Nile River, its landscape and its peculiar behaviour in Aeschylus’ tragedies and in the Greek imaginary of the 5th century BC.
