Abstract
En este texto pretendemos apostar por la preeminencia de la agencia comunicativa
de la obra artística en su materialidad, frente a los textos interpretativos que la restringen
utilizándola como pretexto o ilustración de discursos predeterminados. Para lograr nuestro
objetivo proponemos una lectura sintomática, de inspiración freudo-lacaniana y de resolución
materialista, que responda a la interpelación de los elementos signi
fi
cantes concretados en el
cuerpo del objeto artístico en forma de síntomas, de cuya signi
fi
cancia individual y relacional,
desprenderemos la diversidad de sentidos emitidos por la obra que coincidirán, o no, con
la intencionalidad del artista y las expectativas del público. La ejempli
fi
cación de nuestra
propuesta se realiza sobre la vídeo instalación Ever is over all (1997), de la artista suiza
Pipilotti Rist
Th is text aims at supporting the pre-eminence of the communicative agency that every single piece of art has in its materiality, as opposed to the interpretative mythologies which restrict all art Works by using them as an example or excuse for predetermined discourses. In order to achieve this goal we suggest a symptomatic reading inspired in the works of Freud and Lacan, but with a materialistic resolution, which might respond to the questions posed by the signi fi cant elements set up as symptoms in the body of the artistic object. Th eir signi fi cance, either individual or relational, will unravel the wide array of meanings issued by the art work, which may or may not match the artist fi rst intention or the audience’s expectations. Th e work of Pipilotti Rist called Ever is over all (1997) is the artwork chosen for this investigation
