Abstract
El desarrollo de la Sociedad de la Información y de las tecnologías de la información, ha generado en el tejido empresarial la necesidad de contar con siste-mas que permitan una gestión eficaz de los recursos de información y documenta-ción de las empresas. Este hecho ha favorecido la reciente aparición y fuerte crecimiento de un sector de empresas, denominadas, de servicios documentales, que ofrecen productos y servicios relacionados con la gestión de información, documen-tación y conocimiento. Sin embargo, su rápido crecimiento y expansión ha difumi-nado su comprensión, conceptualización y estratificación sectorial. Este trabajo trata de poner luz en la conceptualización de este tipo de empresas y en la definición del sector de actividad económica que configuran las empresas de servicios documentales, mediante un estudio de casos que identifique sus productos y servicios.
ABSTRACT: The development of the Information Society, the information technologies, it has generated in the managerial context the necessity to have systems that al-low an effective administration of the information and documentation resources of the companies. This fact has favored the recent appearance and strong growth of a sector of companies, denominated, documental services, that offers products and services related with the administration of information, documentation and knowl-edge. However, their quick growth and expansion has stumped its understanding, conceptualization and sectoral stratification. This work tries to put light in the conceptualization of this type of companies and in the definition of the sector of eco-nomic activity that configure the companies of documental services, by a case study that identifies its products and services.
