Description
Abstract
establecidas entonces
The innovative processes of industrialization established in the Murcia mining districts since the middle of the 19th century, substantially changed the life-mode of those societies where they were carried out. These transformations were related to the new work cultures, which, at the same time, were based on the model of capitalist production and on the particular idiosyncrasy of mining work that entailed enormous hardship and high risk. In this article we will study the sociocultural archetypes that emerged from then on in the two main mining centers of the region of Murcia: Cartagena-La Unión and Mazarrón. In addition, we will discover how in these populations a high sociability developed, which we will see represented by the numerous cooperatives, mutual aid soci- eties, recreational or political groups that were established at that time.
