Description
Abstract
ABSTRACT: The adaptation of the training offered in Librarianship, Audiovisual Communication, Information and Documentation, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations in Spanish universities has experienced a broad remodeling due to the adjustment of the curricula to the European Higher Education Area. This research reviews the new scenario of documentation and communication studies in Spain through a deep analysis of various aspects: within the university field, the academic offer and enrollment; and from a socio-labour perspective, the employment and unemployment rates and hiring profiles. Results reflect an increase in the number of degrees offered following the adjustment to the EHEA; an upward tendency of the number of students enrolled and holding a bachelor degree; an employment outlook which shows annual unemployment increases of around 25%; and low rates of adjustment of the training received by the bachelors to the current hiring profiles, which derives in unstable contracting scenarios.
