Description
Abstract
Partiendo de un enfoque transatlántico, la obra
Adiós,
Madrid
-
asumiendo
un presente gobernado por la c
orrupción
-
desde su condición de detective,
pero también de migrante.
From the perspective of the transatlantic studies, Paco Ignacio Taibo’ s work Adiós, Madrid offers us a new possibility of seeing through the Mexican identity that the author develops through his fiction. By analyzing detective fiction as a frame - from a political position - and the mechanisms that, in it, Taibo makes function (state violence, dichotomy pre - modernity – modernity, construction of characters’ identity), it is possible to track a r einterpretation of the concept “identity” and the author’s identity construct itself. To this end, he makes a return trip to Spain (after moving to Mexico as a kid), where he finds both a personal and national past, he has to deal with - assuming a present ruled over corruption - not only as a detective, but also as a migrant.
