Description
Abstract
In view of the diverse progressive governments that have emerged in Latin America, commonly called populist, and the strong antagonisms produced by the policies of inclusion promoted by these governments, Laclau's theory of populism, which is mainly exposed in his work On populist reason, appears as an essential analytic tool to understand these processes, so it can explain why the antagonisms are produced by these processes without renouncing its emancipator potential. For this reason, this paper sets out an analysis of the categories proposed by Laclau -attending to concepts such as hegemony, equivalencial chain, or demand- to finally address, in a more brief form and with the help of these categories, the current political situation in Argentina, which is characterized precisely by a strong antagonism.
