Description
Abstract
The aim of this investigation is to deremine the deficiencies and demands of prospective teachers as regards their academic training in order to prepare them to face the reality of teaching and to improve their professional welfare. For this purpose we submitted the Self-Evaluative Questionnaire on Teaching Unease, CAMD-Students (Cuestionario Autoevaluativo del Malestar Docente, CAMD - Alumnado) to a sample of 192 students. Results show that the most demanded training needs on the part of students, perceived as the most significant deficiencies in their training, are those related to dealing with disruptive pupils, maintaining discipline, performing tutorial tasks, working with families and teaching staff, as well as knowing how to control anxiety, stress and frustration, among others. The most significant differences between variables are to be found in the Specialisation (Especialidad), bacherlors (Licenciados) form both Arts and Sciences being those who show greater deficiencies in their training with respect to the rest of Teacher's Diplomas (Maestros).
