dc.description.abstract	El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la noción de “progreso” dentro de la tradición de la teoría crítica de la sociedad de la Escuela de Frankfurt. La tesis de partida es que tanto los críticos radicales del progreso moderno (Benjamin, Adorno, Horkheimer) como sus defensores contemporáneos (Habermas, Honneth) mantienen una visión no lo suficientemente compleja sobre el significado del proceso de modernización. A fin de defender esta tesis, el trabajo se divide en tres puntos. En primer lugar, se esbozan dos historias muy esquemáticas sobre el significado del proceso de modernización. En segundo lugar, se sintetiza la posición de aquellos representantes de la teoría crítica que, situándose del lado de la primera historia, han ofrecido una teoría de la evolución social de carácter marcadamente optimista. Por último, se dibuja una breve panorámica de las críticas a la modernidad y a la noción de progreso localizables dentro de la teoría crítica, poniendo el foco en las que constituyen su culminación reflexiva más impresionante: las tesis sobre filosofía de la historia de Benjamin y la dialéctica de la Ilustración de Adorno y Horkheimer.	es
dc.description.abstract	The aim of this paper is to analyse the notion of "progress" within the tradition of Frankfurt School's critical theory of society. The starting thesis is that both the radical critics of modern progress (Benjamin, Adorno, Horkheimer) and their contemporary defenders (Habermas, Honneth) maintain an insufficiently complex view of the meaning of the modernization process. In order to defend this thesis, I divide the work into three sections. First, I sketch two very schematic stories of the meaning of the modernization process. Second, I synthesize the position of those representatives of critical theory who, taking the side of the first story, have offered a markedly optimistic theory of social evolution. Finally, I give a brief overview of the critiques of modernity and the notion of progress that can be located within critical theory, focusing on those that constitute its most impressive reflective culmination: Benjamin's theses on the philosophy of history and Adorno and Horkheimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment.	es
