Abstract
El objetivo de esta investigación es identificar las necesidades de información de los principales colectivos de inmigrantes en la Comunidad de Madrid. El marco teórico en el que se inscribe la investigación está constituido por las bibliotecas públicas, en tanto que agentes y escenarios informativos, socio-educativos y culturales idóneos para la integración de los inmigrantes. En su realización se ha seguido un diseño de examen que busca la información en las principales asociacio-nes de inmigrantes, siendo sus Presidentes los informantes clave. Se ha elaborado un cuestionario para la recogida de datos y ha sido aplicado utilizando la interacción personal. Entre los resultados obtenidos se encuentran los siguientes: Los inmigrantes consideran necesario que las bibliotecas públicas proporcionen un portal electró-nico con información temática que facilite su integración, habiéndose puesto de re-lieve los temas principales. Los inmigrantes necesitan una base de datos referencial sobre sus culturas que pueda consultarse en sus lenguas.
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research is detecting the information needs of the main immigrant populations in Madrid’s Community. The public libraries as -informative, socio-educative and cultural- proper agents and places in order to the integration of immigrants form the conceptual framework of our research. A survey design is suited. The information has been sought in the main immigrant associa-tions being the key informants their Presidents. A questionnaire has been elaborated to collect the data and a personal interaction has been used. Some findings obtained are: Immigrants consider necessary that public libraries provided Web sites with thematic information that makes easier their integration. The main thematic contents have been identified. The immigrants have the need of a referential data base about theirs cultures which could be consulted in theirs motherly languages.
