dc.description.abstract	In this paper a literary analysis of the structure and arrangement of López Pinciano’s epic poem Pelayo is carried out by comparing it with those of the Aeneid and the Homeric poems. The study of the similarities and differences between this works sheds light on how López Pinciano has adapted from the Virgilian model some structural and compositional elements of the classical epic poetry to extol the protagonist’s virtue as a Christian hero and illustrious founder of the Spanish monarchy.
