Abstract
Rafael Mitjana, partidario de las ideas de Pedrell –padre del nacionalismo musical español–,dejó un buen número de ensayos, en algunos de los cuales –como hemos puesto de manifiesto en un trabajo anterior (Ortega y Pardo-Cayuela, 2022)– incidió en el flamenco. Aquí nos proponemos exponer sus teorías y conjeturas sobre este arte, tratando de valorar su alcance, así como la re-percusión que tuvieron en su época. Aunque ya lo hicimos entonces, ahondaremos también en su biografía, aludiendo al tiempo a algunas de sus composiciones en las que claramente se percibe el influjo de la música andaluza.
Rafael Mitjana, a supporter of the ideas of Pedrell -father of Spanish musical nationalism- left a good number of essays, some of which -as we have shown in a previous work (Ortega y Pardo- Cayuela, 2022)- paid attention to flamenco. Here we propose to expose his theories and conjectures about this art, trying to assess its scope, as well as the impact it had in its time. Although we already did it then, we will also delve into his biography, alluding at the time to some of his compositions in which the influence of Andalusian music is clearly perceived.
