Description
Abstract
ABSTRACT: Tourism in Singapore is a major industry that has experienced significant advances in the last 50 years. This country stands out as an example of how a tourist destination with many limitations has managed to consolidate its leadership within its geographical area, i.e. Southeast Asia. Using an adaptation of the conceptual model of Airey and Chong (2011), this paper analyzes the evolution of the tourism policy in Singapore. According to this approach, the factors from outside and inside the tourism system influence the decisions and actions taken. By considering the tourism policy-making and implementation context, this study identifies the key elements of the Singapore tourism model success.
