Description
Abstract
The main objective of this contribution is to analyze the form and content of a Latin epitaph composed by the humanist Giangiorgio Trissino (1478-1550) in memory of his friend Vincenzo Magrè, who died in 1510. As we will see, it is a remarkable carmen epigraphicum which must be interpreted as the product of an enriching dialogue between the Greco-Roman tradition (Greco-Roman funeral epigraphy, Greek Anthology, Martial, etc.) and the Renaissance recreation of the Latin epitaph.
